The Day of Atonement gave God’s people a framework for dealing directly and decisively with sin. Through confession and sacrifice, God extended a promise to His people that they could be forgiven, that their sins would be covered by the sacrifice, and that they could walk in peace with God. Jesus fulfilled all that the Day of Atonement was pointing to and calls all who are forgiven by Him into lives of humility and confession, dealing with sin and receiving His forgiveness.
